RU PARTNERSHIP WITH THE TEACHER SERVICE COMMISSION (TSC) FOR THE ROLL OUT OF TEACHER PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT (TPD) PROGRAM

Riara University is delighted to announce its partnership with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) in the delivery of the Teacher Professional Development program (TPD) to be offered to the over 340,000 TSC registered teachers in the country. RU is proud to be one of four institutions tasked with the responsibility of equipping practicing teachers with 21st Century core competencies for provision of quality education in the nation. The Riara heritage of providing quality education is well known in the region, having been in the sector for almost half a century.

The program will use a modular approach and will be delivered via technology. Teachers will be required to undertake at least one module in a year and cover at least five modules during their working life which will guide career growth and development. Some of the Modules will include professionalism, pedagogy, Competency based curriculum and assessment, inclusive education practices, Instructional Leadership, Financial Literacy skills, Comprehensive Health and Safety skills for teachers while institutional managers / leaders and senior teachers have a separate curriculum in line with what they do. At the end of the course, teachers will receive a stage completion certificate from the university.

The University is well prepared to receive the first cohort of teachers who are expected to kick off learning by December 2021. RU is indeed pleased to take part in this national role of helping to shape teaching approaches of current and future educators in Kenya.
